Made from 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Petit Verdot grape varietals, winemaking for the Bacchus Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot 2018 is kept simple and true. Made in traditional “kuipe” (cement open-top fermenters) and undergoing natural fermentation with pigéage/punch downs. Matured for 24 months in 225-litre 3rd-fill French barrels. Bottled at 13%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Complex nose of cassis, tobacco, red cherries and a herbaceous freshness.
Palate: Violets, black cherry, chocolate and sweet cassis notes follow through onto the palate with luscious oak spice too.
Finish: Really generous, rich and smooth.
The history of Mont Blois Wine Estate and the Bruwer Family begins in 1869 when the first farm was bought and named after the picturesque town of Blois in the Loire where the Bruwer’s came from. Owner Ernst Bruwer took over from his grandfather Ernst Bruwer Snr. with a belief in sustainable farming and that older vineyards should be cared for. Winemaker Nina-Mari and Ernst met whilst studying Viticulture & Enology together at Stellenbosch University. Nina-Mari joined the Mont Blois team in 2008 and in 2014 was awarded the prestigious title of Cape Wine Master. The husband-and-wife team are passionate about making site-specific quality wines.
