Svensk Ek gets its name from the fact that 10% of the whisky was matured in Swedish oak casks (the remainder being ex-bourbon casks). The Swedish oak comes from the south of the country. Before the trees become barrels, staves are cut and then dried for at least a year. They are then hand coopered and heavily toasted before use. Bottled at 46.1%.

Nose: Fruity with citrus, pear, apple and honey. A light oakiness with sweet, lightly toasted bread notes and fresh butter toffee.

Palate: Spicy character with sandalwood, dried ginger, black pepper, roasted oak and herbs. Fruity and smooth with citrus, caramel and honey. 

Finish: Balanced with hints of dark chocolate.
