Comte Louis de Lauriston Réserve Calvados Domfrontais is produced from a blend of Calvados aged more than three years in oak casks. The finest pear varieties are used to create Calvados, to which local apples are added. The crop is harvested at the very end of the season, the fruits are crushed and pressed. The resulting juice is fermented in vats made of wood naturally throughout the winter. When excess sugars are removed from the cider and it becomes dry, it is subjected to a single distillation. The resulting alcohols are aged in old oak barrels. Bottled at 42%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Rich fruity aromas of apples and pears combined with aromas due to long ageing.

Palate: Hints of vanilla and cinnamon.

Finish: Supple, long, complex.

Founded to put an end to illicit distilling of Calvados in the Domfront region in France, the Calvados Comte Louis de Lauriston cellars today possess forgotten treasures dating back to this period of clandestine production: a unique range of vintages covering several decades. Since 1962, Calvados distilled at home by farmers, using traditional local methods, has been delivered to the cellars in Domfront and marketed under the Count Louis de Lauriston brand name. It adds regularly to the stock of ageing Calvados whose quality has been acknowledged by the award of 200 medals and certificates of merit.
