Only the grapes from Block 1 Cabernet on La Bri (planted in 1999) are used for this limited release Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are cold soaked for 1 week before fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation took place in barrel. Matured for 24 months in 100% new French oak. 1,440 bottles were produced. Bottled at 14%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Cedar wood, sweet spice, dark red fruits, mulberries and cassis, subtle whiffs of pencil shavings and tobacco.

Palate: Fruit forward entry, with enticing notes of cassis and red currants. Medium body complemented with a moreish mid-palate with savoury sweet spice notes and pencil shavings.

Finish: Elegant long finish with a ripe tannin structure and lingering notes of cedar wood and tobacco.

Given to the De Villiers family in 1694 as one of the original nine farms given to the Huguenots, La Bri is derived from the French word for shelter. Passing through a number of owners, Robin Hamilton bought the farm in 1997 and General Manager and winemaker Irene Waller, previously winemaker at the Graham Beck Winery in Robertson for 6 years, joined La Bri in 2010.
