Journey's End, a boutique winery and vineyard on the mountain slopes above Sir Lowry’s Pass Village near Somerset West in the Helderberg basin, released its rebranded V Series range of wines in 2019. The grapes for the Journey's End Shiraz 2017 were picked from Block 13 which is situated 130m above sea level. 90% of the grapes were stored overnight in the cold room before being hand-sorted and destemmed. The whole berries were cold soaked for 4 days before being inoculated. Fermentation lasted 20 days between 18-25°C. 10% of the grapes were subjected to a carbonic fermentation and were added to stainless-steel tanks still attached to the stems. Bottled at 14.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Journey's End Vineyard is owned by the Gabb Family, originally from Shropshire in the UK. The Gabb family took control of the wine farm, surrounded by 20ha of vineyards, in 1995. By 2011 they had grown the estate to 120ha.
