A limited-release wine, honouring the Jordan family heritage as master shoemakers, Jordan Cobblers Hill 2015 is produced from a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc. Harvested from 23 year old West-facing vines, 220m above sea level, growing in decomposed granite (Hutton and Glenrosa soil form). Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were picked between 26 February and 20 March 2015 at 24° Balling; Merlot between 2-20 March 2015 at 24° Balling; and Cabernet Franc on 4 March 2015 at 25° Balling. Fermented in overhead retort-shaped, stainless steel fermentors at 28°C with three pump-overs done daily over the fermenting cap. After pressing, the wine was racked to barrel where it finished malolactic fermentation. Only the best barrels were selected, and the wine spent a total of 24 months in 225-litre French oak barrels. Residual sugar: 2.6g/l. Bottled at 14.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Dark black ripe plums, cigar box, with hints of white chocolate and winter truffles
Palate: Vibrant on the mid-palate and resolved tannins. Black fruit with white pepper and a lovely spicy savoury note.
Finish: A spicy finish.
