The first bottling in Glengoyne's new Legacy series honours the life and achievements of distillery manager Cochrane Cartwright. Cochrane transformed the distillery in 1869 by slowing the distillation and introducing sherry cask maturation to Glengoyne. Chapter One was matured in first fill European oak Oloroso sherry casks as well as some refill casks and bottled in 2019. Non-chillfiltered and bottled at 48%.
Nose: Full and rich, sticky toffee pudding with dates and vanilla custard, warm pear and cinnamon.
Palate: Mouth coating and thick; layers of sweet, fruity sherry notes over gentle oak with sultanas and vanilla.
Finish: Dried fruits and spice linger in a long, balanced finish.
