Made by Niels and Alice Verburg of Luddite fame, this is the 2nd vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon released under the Die Hart label. Grapes are from the cool Walker Bay area. Matured in older French oak barrels for 18 months. Bottled at 14%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: The nose shows delightful pronounced bell pepper notes and graphite.

Palate: A typical Cabernet Sauvignon palate of blackcurrant, herbs, and surprisingly (as there is 0% new oak), cedar.

Finish: Good grippy tannin. A very lean and focused wine.

Die Hart is a new wine label created by David and Jeannette Clarke, owners of Ex Animo Wine Co. Niels Verburg previously worked as a flying winemaker in France, Greece, Chile, New Zealand and Australia and joined Beaumont Wines in Bot River in 1995, where he was the winemaker for eight vintages. Luddite began life in 2000 when he and his wife Penny bought a small 17ha property on the slopes of the Houw Hoek Mountains, just outside Bot River, and started to transform the wild slopes into a beautiful farm. The first Luddite vintage containing the farm’s own grapes was in 2004.
