Crafted from Portuguese grape varietals, Tinta Barocca, Touriga Nacional, Souzão and Touriga Francesca. Hand-harvested from low-yielding old vines and matured for 18 months in Portuguese pipe barrels. Bottled at 19%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: A bouquet of crushed black berry, bramble, tart cranberry, kirsch, purple plums with bright All-spice top notes intermingled by fynbos, apricot, savoury undercurrents, liquorice and wine spirit.
Palate: The bouquet slowly unfurls onto the bold juvenile palate with more liquorice, peach, intense black hedgerow fruits, cocoa nib and hints of scrub.
Finish: A lengthy dry finish.
Port is a geographically protected indication, meaning that to be called port it must be made in a specific region of Portugal. Thus, this is not technically a port wine, however, South African has a long tradition of producing port-styled wines in exactly the same process as is done in Portugal.
