Ahrens Kasteel-Neef 2020 is produced from a blend of ±50% Grenache, ±40% Carignan and ±10% Syrah. Grapes were harvested from three ±20 year old vineyards on the southern side of the Paardeberg mountain in W.O. Voor-Paardeberg, growing on decomposed granites and shales. Intense sorting prior to partial destemming with 10-15% selective whole-bunch components. Open top natural fermentation with one daily punch-down and prolonged post-ferment skin contact under CO2 protection.  Aged for 15-18 months, partially in 300-litre French oak barrels (older up to 5 years) and post blending in 1,300-litre French oak foudre. 1,383 bottles were produced. Residual sugar: 2.4 g/l. Bottled at 14%. (Bottle size 750ml)
