Teremana is the tequila brand launched in 2020 by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the Hollywood actor and former WWE champion. The name combines “tere”, from the Latin terra (earth), with “mana”, a Polynesian word for spirit or power that flows through all things. It’s a nod to Johnson’s Samoan heritage, and the brand often translates it as “spirit of the earth”.
The tequila is produced at the Destilería Teremana de Agave in Jesús María, in the Highlands of Jalisco. The distillery was built in partnership with the Lopez family. Highland agave is generally slower to mature than lowland agave and gives a sweeter, more fruit-forward spirit.
All Teremana tequila is made from 100% blue Weber agave from the Highlands. The agave is slow-roasted in small brick ovens and distilled in copper pot stills made by a local artisan on the distillery grounds. Each bottle is sealed by hand in black wax at the distillery.
