The second release in Torabhaig’s Legacy Series and the first release to be available in South Africa from the new distillery on the Isle of Skye. Produced using heavily peated Concerto and Laureate malt, distilled in 2017 and 2018, matured in 80% first-fill bourbon barrels and 20% refill whisky casks, in small batches of no more than 30 casks. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 46%. (Bottle size 750 ml)
Nose: Woody tobacco, crumbly vanilla shortbread, earthy peat smoke, lemon zest, smoked shellfish, heathery smoke, blossom honey, barley sugars and salty sea air.
Palate: Bolder peat and coastal tar with an oily texture, roasted salted nuts, light fruit salad, heather, fennel, metallic pepper spice, oily citrus, hints of tropical fruit and vanilla biscuits, all with a subtle medicinal edge.
Finish: Sweeter orchard fruits like apples and kiwi, vanilla oak, lingering peat smoke, sea breeze and briny harbourside character, with hints of tobacco and floral peat.
