Patrón (Spanish for the good boss) Tequila was originally produced by Casa 7 Leguas, one of the oldest Mexican distilleries. In 1989 John Paul DeJoria and Martin Crowley of St. Maarten Spirits purchased the brand rights, and in 2002 production moved to a new distillery. In January 2018, Patrón was sold to Bacardi, the world's largest privately held spirits company.
Patrón is currently located in the small town of Atotonilco, and produced in a multimillion-dollar facility where 700 employees handcraft the Tequila that goes into every bottle. The Patrón Spirits Company, headquartered in Las Vegas, imports and markets a portfolio of top-quality spirits, including its signature Patrón Tequila line, now the world’s top-selling ultra-premium tequila.
