Mellish Family Vineyards

Founded on Welbeloond Farm, Mellish Family Vineyards is a boutique, terroir-driven producer nestled in the hills of Durbanville, just 9 km from the Atlantic. Its roots run deep, originally serving as a Jan van Riebeeck outpost in the 1600s, the farm's Cape Dutch manor and buildings date back to 1785. The Mellish family leased the land starting in 1918 and formally purchased it in 1934. Between 2000 and 2004, they began planting vines, and today the 35 hectares under vine reflect the farm's storied past and commitment to place.

Overseeing it all is Andrew Mellish—owner, director, viticulturist, and winemaker. He leads a family farm deeply rooted in a mission: crafting wines that are balanced yet expressive, honoring both the ancient shale soils and the cool coastal climate of Durbanville.
