Located on Lochlea Farm in Ayrshire, Scotland, Lochlea Distillery is surrounded by 220 acres of its own barley fields. Originally a dairy farm, it was converted under the ownership of Neil McGeoch, who began growing malting barley in 2014, a move that laid the foundation for the distillery’s creation.
Following the renovation of old farm buildings and the construction of bonded warehouses, production began in August 2018, with the distillery’s inaugural whisky launched in January 2022. True to its field-to-bottle philosophy, Lochlea uses only barley grown on the farm, with around 20% malted onsite. With an annual output of just 200,000 litres, it ranks among Scotland’s smallest distilleries, celebrated for its commitment to provenance, transparency, and craft.
