Presented by WhiskyBrother, The Only Whisky Show is the definitive whisky festival on the South African calendar — independently planned, organised, and hosted with passion. Held annually in both Johannesburg and Cape Town over two nights each, the show is a celebration of whisky for the enthusiast, no matter their level of knowledge or experience.

ALAN WINCHESTER, Master Distiller (Retired)

Alan Winchester brings half a century of whisky dedication to The Only Whisky Show. Beginning his journey in 1975 as a tour guide at Glenfarclas, he rose through the ranks to helm some of Speyside’s most iconic producers, overseeing more than 20 malt distilleries — including Glenlivet, Aberlour, Strathisla, and Longmorn — and spearheading the reopening of Glen Keith and the creation of Dalmunach.

Following his retirement from distilling in 2018, Alan served in an ambassadorial role for Glenlivet until 2022. He continues to influence the industry as a distillery advisor, consulting on new projects across, both at home in Scotland — most notably Speyside’s newest producer, Cabrach Distillery - and as far abroad as New Zealand's Waiheke.

We’re honoured to welcome Alan Winchester to South Africa for the very first time. His depth of knowledge, passion for Scotch, and exceptional career will make him an invaluable part of The Only Whisky Show 2025.
