The standard expression in the range from the new Wolfburn distillery. Matured in ex-Islay quarter casks made from Spanish and American oak. A long fermentation of 75 hours coupled with a slow distillation has given the whisky a sweet fruit and malt character. Originally known only as Wolfburn single malt, it was later named as Northland. Nonchillfiltered and bottled at 46%.
Nose: Initially sweet with fruit and fresh sea air along with a citrus freshness, hints of cereal and a trace of peat smoke.
Palate: Sweet, nutty tones come to the fore, with hints of grapes and honey in the background. Floral flavours abound, enhanced with just a hint of coffee and dark chocolate.
Finish: Lovely and rounded, coating the palate and leaving a trace of peat.
