The Royal Salute 21yo is a blended whisky, first released in 1953 and produced by Chivas Brothers and thus likely to contain the jewels in the Chivas single malt distillery stable (likely candidates being Glenlivet and Longmorn) but the heart of the blend is Strathisla. Presented in a Wade ceramic decanter available in three colours (ruby, sapphire and emerald) and accompanied by a velvet bag. Bottled at 43%.
Nose: A restrained nose of vanilla, toffee, and matured oak.
Palate: Sweet with honey, hazelnuts and subtle spices like ginger, all spice and cardamom. The complexity is evident with layers of flavour all expertly weaved together.
Finish: Chocolate and oak with sweet grain and lingering spice.
