The Octomore 9 series has been named with the tell-tale διάλογος (dialogos - dialogue in ancient Greek) in recognition of the whisky's ability to provoke debate amongst whisky enthusiasts. Octomore 9.1 is a 5yo distilled from 100% Scottish grown Concerto barley, harvested in 2011 and distilled in 2012. Matured entirely on Islay for five years in ex-American whiskey casks. Malted to 156ppm. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 59.1%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Smoke and oak, intense sweetness from the cask, vanilla, cinder toffee. The smoke is thick, velvety and vegetal, peat and earthy.
Palate: Soft on the palate - no aggression, nutty, fudge, nougat, delicate coconut and rose petal floral.
Finish: Long peat finish, hints of treacle, warm sand/salt.
