Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at high strength of 57.1%.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003eNOTES FROM THE WB TEAM\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 57.1% used in this 100 Proof range is a nod to the traditional British proof system, a historic method of measuring alcohol strength that predates modern ABV (alcohol by volume) standards. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the British Navy required a reliable method to verify the strength of spirits to ensure they weren’t being watered down. The test involved soaking gunpowder with the spirit and attempting to ignite it.
