Chosen after a three-year search by Masataka Taketsuru for the purity of its air and ideal humidity for ageing casks, the location of the Miyagikyo distillery has many things in common with the Cairngorn mountains in Scotland. Remarkable from beginning to end, this version, which was finished for one year in ex-sherry casks, shows just how successful the sherry's influence is. Incredibly elegant rancio, exotic fruit, gentle spice and roasted flavours - Japanese culture finds itself on Andalusian time, and Don Quixote in the land of the rising sun...

Profile: the complex initial nose is magnificently rancio (brandied cherry) and exotic (mango). It develops into spice bread, orange and pink peppercorn. The unctuous attack returns to citrus and exotic fruit. The mid-palate is chocolatey and roasted. The sunny finish is characterized by pipe tobacco and corinthian raisins. The retro-nasal olfaction evokes black tea.
