La Bri's Double Door range of experimental wines introduces wines that are produced from a mix of estate grapes and grapes brought in from neighbouring farms. The components for the 2020 vintage of Petit Verdot were vinified and matured for 24 months in French oak barrels. 3,000 bottles were produced. Residual sugar: 2g/l. Bottled at 14.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Beautiful black fruit on the nose, mulberry, plums, cherries.
Palate: Lovely fruit on entry, blackberry and plums. Sweet spice like star anise and cloves. Very well integrated tannin structure, not too grippy.
Finish: A rich lingering finish.
Given to the De Villiers family in 1694 as one of the original nine farms given to the Huguenots, La Bri is derived from the French word for shelter. Passing through a number of owners, Robin Hamilton bought the farm in 1997 and General Manager and winemaker Irene Waller, previously winemaker at the Graham Beck Winery in Robertson for 6 years, joined La Bri in 2010.
