Named after former Joostenberg matriarch Gillian (nèe Fairhead) Myburgh, this blended, dry white wine is made from a combination of 54% Chenin Blanc, 23% Roussanne, 13% Viognier and 10% Alvarinho. Hand-picked in the cool morning hours and whole-bunch pressed. Spontaneous fermentation in terracotta amphora (60%) and seasoned oak barrels (40%) with maturation “sur lies” for 10 months. In order to maintain the flavour integrity of the wine, no stabilisation products were used and the wine was not filtered. Bottled at 13.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Captivating and complex aromas. Floral notes of orange blossom and acacia flowers, apples and pears with just a whiff of honeysuckle and baking spices.

Palate: Elegant fruit entry with notes of honey and an intriguing soft ginger spice on the mid-palate. Medium bodied with a waxy texture.

Finish: Long finish with lingering notes apple crumble and sweet baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.

Joostenberg Wines is a 5th generation family business situated in the Muldersvlei district of Stellenbosch that produces an exclusive range of wines with an emphasis on individuality, sustainable farming and natural winemaking. In keeping with this commitment and a desire to produce wines that reflect their origin, all the vineyards are farmed organically. A minimal intervention approach is followed in the winery. Wines are fermented using “natural” yeasts and additives are kept to a minimum. Full organic status was achieved in 2012.
