Speyside distillery Glenrothes used to release its whiskies by vintage rather than with an age statement. Their discontinued 2015 bottling of the 2001 vintage was distilled in 2001 and matured in a combination of ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks. Bottled at 43%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Vanilla, leather, lemon and fresh oak along with ripe pear and soft nutmeg.

Palate: Spicier on the palate with cinnamon and nutmeg cutting through herbal, leathery oiliness with citrus.

Finish: Spice is tamed now but still there. A drying, long finish with honey.
