Launched in 2021 by US-based spirits producer Biggar and Leith, Gladstone Axe pays tribute to former UK prime minister William Gladstone, great-great-great grandfather of Elwyn Gladstone, founder of Biggar and Leith. American Oak is made from a selection of malt whiskies from 14 different Highland and Islay malt distilleries (but with a lesser percentage of Islay whisky than The Black Axe) and matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The bottle features a portrait of an axe-bearing William Gladstone, who was a fan of felling trees in his spare time. Bottled at 43%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Rich, spicy, vanilla fruit.

Palate: Sweet, oak, vanilla spice.

Finish: A gentle peppery finish.
