Part of Diageo's Special Releases for 2019, this is the first-ever peated/smoky release from Speyside's Cragganmore distillery, which is usually unpeated. A small trial batch of medium-peated whisky matured for 12 years in refill American oak casks. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 58.4%.
Nose: Initially elusive, sweet with hard candy or apple pie, savoury, with soft leather and sanded wood, and uniquely, smoky too, with fragrant peat-smoke.
Palate: Rich sweet and savoury, then becomes appealingly smoky.
Finish: Smoothly smoky and spicy.
