The Carmen Stevens Merlot 2017 is a blend of fruit from two vineyard blocks in the Paarl region. The fruit was hand-picked at optimal ripeness, bunch sorted and fermented with a pure yeast culture. The wines are all fermented separately and blended after 12 months. The wines are then barreled again for good marriage of the different varieties for another 4 months. All these wines were matured in French oak barrels to compliment rather to add to the finale taste. Bottled at 14.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: A beautiful ripe cherry and black berry fruit. Layered flavour spectrum with depth of flavour that greets you on the nose.
Palate: The palate entrance is full, ripe with concentrated flavours. A beautiful balance of toasted oak with ripe cherry fruit, sweet mid-palate impression and just enough freshness to keep the palate interesting.
Finish: Long and lingering finish, more of the oaky notes come through again.
