A curiously, heavily peated malt from Speyside produced by the outstanding team at the BenRiach distillery. Very much a throwback to what was most certainly produced in the Speyside region. Bottled at 46%
Nose: Sublimely medicinal, sweet grassy asphalt and heather. Hints of malmsey.
Palate: At once sweet and heavily smoked. Peppery spice tingles, iodine, a warm nuttiness.
Finish: Bittersweet, dry wood, creosote and phenol, and fennel.
