A limited edition, Committee release launched in 2015 as part of the distillery's 200th anniversary celebrations. The whisky is a vatting of both "very old” and young Ardbeg, matured in a combination of bourbon barrels and sherry casks. Bottled at the higher strength of 49.2%.
Nose: Tar, soot and pine resin leads to dark chocolate, treacle toffee, and a distant, nutty/oaky note.
Palate: Intense, robust peat smoke, savoury smoky bacon, cinnamon.
Finish: The gentle finish sees more linseed oil (a hint of the sherry casks), creosote and tar.
