A rare and limited release from the Islay Ardbeg distillery which was released shortly after Glenmorangie purchased the distillery in 1998. Distilled in 1975 and bottled in 2000. Bottled at 43%.
Nose: Sweet and floral. The smoke is gentle and unassuming, integrating with the oak to create delicate floral tones and faint notes of pine.
Taste: Immediately huge and mouth-filling. Attached to this peatiness is a quite delicious and teasingly slow build-up of cocoa as the oak superbly interacts with the phenol.
Finish: A long, never-ending finish with the peat refusing to leave and lingering sweetness.
