Part of the Scions of Sinai Western range, Señor Tallos 2022 is a blend of 51% Chenin Blanc and 49% Grenache Blanc. Chenin Blanc grapes are from decomposed granite and deep clay vineyards in southern Stellenbosch and the Grenache Blanc grapes are from sandy granite vineyards in Voor Paardeberg. Windy conditions in both vineyards contribute to healthy skins – perfect for skin macerated wines. Grapes are hand-harvested, 50% destemmed, 50% whole cluster. Different fermentation techniques are used: the Chenin Blanc is fermented on its skins; and there is a carbonic maceration element to the Grenache Blanc. Aged under flor in older barrels for 7 months. Bottled at 11.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Scion refers to the top life bearing parts of a plant/vine or can also mean ‘the descendant of’. Sinai refers to ‘Sinai Hill’ – a granite hill in the lower Helderberg region south of Stellenbosch towards False Bay. Bernhard Bredell used these words to create the name ‘Scions of Sinai’ which is also applicable given that he is a 7th generation (descendant) of Bredell wine farmers from this area. Scions of Sinai Wines focus on curating some uniquely located vineyards of the Lower Helderberg region from low yielding dry-farmed bush vines on silica rich decomposed granite soils barely 4km from the cold South Atlantic shoreline (False Bay). Uncompromised wines with an obsessive attention to detail for terroir influences and a deep passion for heritage.
