Primal Spirits is a small batch distillery based at Victoria Yards, an urban regeneration project in Johannesburg. One of a few distilleries who make their own neutral spirit from scratch using sustainably grown hard red wheat and bedrock water from the Magaliesberg. Applewood Aged Complex Gin is aged for a month with applewood staves which produces more nuance and complexity, balancing the original 18 locally sourced botanicals with the light fruit wood. Nose: Aromatic roots and herbs, honey, earthy, slight smoke, hint of almond and wood.

Palate: Mellow roots, soft smokiness, subtle herbs, layered and rounded.

Finish: Long and dry, lingering herbs.
