Harvested from a 0.6 ha, 38-year-old single vineyard, the fruit was hand-picked in small picking bins to ensure that perfect grapes reached the cellar. These grapes were then fermented with wild yeast in matured French puncheons and aged in these barrels sur lie for 10-12 months. With the Ou Steen, Cellar Master Jasper Raats has managed to produce an off-dry vouvray style wine. Bottled at 13%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Situated at the foot of the Helderberg mountains in the heart of the Cape Winelands near Stellenbosch, Longridge is one of the leading estates in organic and biodynamic winemaking, using no herbicides or chemical sprays in the production of their grapes.
Nose: Toasty marmalade, pineapple, lime and honey nougat.
Palate: On entry, sweet ripe stone fruit such as mango and peaches, with good clean acidity on the mid-palate to balance out the sweetness. Very well textured with beautiful minerality.
Finish: A long lingering finish, with tropical fruits and charry vanilla.
