Neil Ellis Rodanos 2015 consists of 70% Groenkloof Shiraz, 20% Groenkloof Cinsault and 10% Piekenierskloof Grenache. Harvest commenced on 20 and 21 March. Grapes were harvested between 25-25.5° Balling. Fermentation was initiated in stainless steel tanks and underwent a series of punch-downs and pump-overs until dry. Further maceration allowed before drawing off and light pressing. This wine spent 14 months in 500-litre French oak barrels of which 33% was 1st-fill, the balance in neutral oak. Bottled in August 2015. Bottled at 14%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Red berry aromatics and underlying spicy notes.
Palate: Tart red cherries and cranberries.
Finish: Spicy pepperiness.
