Grapes for the Anura Chardonnay 2022 are hand-picked early morning to keep the juice temperatures cool and preserve fresh, clean fruit flavours. Fermentation is initiated in French oak barrels (15%) using natural yeast and the balance fermented in tank using VIN 13, a commercial yeast. 15% of the wine is aged in 2nd and 3rd-fill French oak barrels for 4 months after fermentation completes. 85% remained in tank after fermentation to preserve fresh fruit flavours and to have a very lightly wooded wine once blended together with the oak component. Bottled at 13.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Citrus forward with beautiful notes of lemon and lime and a subtle floral orange blossom and flinty wet stone character.

Palate: Lemon, lime and papaya on entry. Complimented with notes of honey and sweet spice on the mid-palate.

Finish: Refreshing acidity and minerality with lingering notes of honeycomb.

Anura Vineyards is owned and run by Tymen, Jenny and Lance Bouma. Positioned on the foothills on the Simonsberg Mountains, Anura boasts a wide variety of soils, slopes and micro-climates. This allows them to grow a wide selection of cultivars, some uncommon in South Africa, and also to match each cultivar with its ideal soil and micro-climate. In the vineyards, Tymen strives to utilise practices that best suit a particular varietal, including specific canopy management, control of the yield, trellising and irrigation control. At Anura, the aim is to produce wines which combine the robust fruit of the New World with the elegance and complexity of Old World winemaking styles.
