The Gauldrons is the latest edition to join independent bottler Douglas Laing's Remarkable Malts series. This blended malt is comprised of malt produced in the Campbeltown region (there are only three, so expect them all) in "very small batches". Nonchillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 46.2%.
Nose: A dry saltiness with sweet cereal and hint of gentle peat.
Palate: Initially dry (beachy and maritime) and warming to crunched sugar, barley and oak.
Finish: Warming and spicy with puffs of smoke and salty rock pools with a dark sugar sweetness.
