Produced with unique and partly secret methods that have remained unchanged since the 18th century, this Hampden Estate 100% pot still rum has been aged for 8 years in Jamaica, a tropical climate that produces an angel's share equivalent to 25 years maturation in the European climate. Naturally coloured, sugar-free and bottled at 46%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Voluptuous and intense, with notes of caramelised apple and sweet spices mixed with a gentle touch of smokiness.
Palate: Pleasant notes of wood, tropical fruits and resin.
Finish: A lingering and enticing waxy finish.
Dating back to 1753, Hampden Estate is one of only two remaining independent distilleries in Jamaica. Having changed ownership several times over the years, in 2009, the Hussey family bought the estate and decided, for the first time in the history of the distillery, to age casks on site with the idea of creating the first official bottling. In 2018, the first bottles of aged rum bearing the name of Hampden Estate were exported, 265 years after the creation of the estate.
